Classroom Expectations
1) Be respectful of yourself and others
2) Be prepared with materials daily
3) Be on task
4) Be on time
5) Follow School Rules
Absence policy: IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to read the calendar online to see what you missed that day. If you don't have access to certain materials online, please see me. Students are responsible for remembering to get a hold of make up work.
From the very beginning of class to the end of class, students will be learning. I put a large emphasis on "taking charge of your own learning" by requiring students to perform individual explorations and team guided experiments with every unit. At this pace it is KEY that students have the right support from home while they reinforce their learning with vocabulary practice and completion of assignments. PLEASE let me know when and where I can help you, parent or student, achieve at your best!
Vocabulary is key to participating with complete engagement. A basic understanding of scientific terms is REQUIRED to make accurate connections and full use of learning and applying concepts time in class. I have set up multiple avenues for students to become fluent in the language of Science, and I encourage them to use them all!
Retest
Maximum retest opportunity: Two (2) retests per content area per semester grading period. Recorded grades of a 74% and below are eligible for re-tests; the higher grade will be recorded in the gradebook. The retest request must be student initiated within five (5) school days after receiving the grade. All assignments, study guides and projects must be completed and turned in before requesting a retest. (No NTI’s) Retest applications will not be accepted during the last five (5) days of any semester. No retest is permitted for Interim Assessments or Posttest Assessments.
